Phillip hates that phrase, but it’s true. Well, sort of. I’ve been a Tennessee fan my entire life and despite an eight year stint at UA, the Vols are still my #1 team. Of course, Phillip is a Tide and true Alabama fan and while UA is definitely my #2 team, Phillip has never been able to “convert” me as he says. Some of you may be arguing that cheering for two teams is impossible, but there’s really only a conflict on one Saturday in October and honestly, football’s position on my priority list is such that it’s actually pretty easy.
Anyway, on this particular Saturday in October, I wore orange and we joined our friends Nick and Tricia for a trip to T-town.
We met Scott and his sister Melanie for lunch at one of Phillip’s Tuscaloosa favorites, Hooligan’s. It was also Scott’s birthday so we were glad to be able to see him. Unfortunately, we were too busy enjoying our lunch to take any pictures.
After lunch, we headed over to Catherine’s (former) house where we are always grateful to park and have a chance to catch up for a few minutes. Catherine managed to commemorate this special event, so check out her blog to see the picture: Bailey Dailies
We caught up with Jenny and Brandon at their tailgate before wandering around the quad.
So many people were in town for the game, including Neda and Clint. Thanks to Nick’s connections, we had amazing seats, easily the best seats we’ve ever had.
Despite the outcome of the game (or, on top of a win, depending on your perspective), we had a great time coming back to Tuscaloosa and seeing so many of our close friends. And our close friends were so excited to see me, in fact, that they all forgave me for happily singing Rocky Top all day, just as they do every year. : )
